Dear Bren Mar Park Elementary School Parents, Students, and Staff,

The Region 2 Office is pleased to announce that Ms. Elizabeth Williams has been named the new principal for Bren Mar Park Elementary School. Her official start date will be March 1, 2019.

Ms. Williams is currently the assistant principal at Freedom Hill Elementary where she has been the assistant principal since 2017. Prior to her tenure at Freedom Hill Elementary, she served as the assistant principal at Parklawn Elementary from 2013-2017.  Ms. Williams also served as the interim principal at Pine Spring Elementary during the summer of 2018.   

Ms. Williams started her career in education in Arizona before moving to Fairfax County in 2009.  She has served as a classroom teacher in grades 2-5 over the years as well as worked as an Instructional Coach at Parklawn Elementary.  She brings many years of elementary experience and administrative knowledge as a result of her time in both Arizona and with us here in Fairfax County Public Schools.  In her various roles during her career, Ms. Williams has obtained experience in both Title I and non-Title I schools and also has a deep understanding of Special Education services as an administrator with a Comprehensive Services Site.  Ms. Williams also has wealth of knowledge around the implementation of the Professional Learning Community cycle, has had extensive training in literacy programs and best practices, and has implemented increased levels of vigor in ESOL support in all content areas based upon student need. 

Ms. Williams’ personal and professional philosophy is one of relationship-building.  She believes that the best way to build and continue a positive school culture is by eliciting feedback from all stakeholders and listening and responding to needs so that everyone feels valued and heard. Elizabeth is very excited to come to Bren Mar Park and build on the strong level of success already in place at the school. 

Ms. Williams holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.
