End of Year SMARTR Outcome

Reading Goal

By June 2022, the (unadjusted) percentage of all 3-5 students passing the Reading SOL will increase from 55% to 80%.

Strategy 1

  • Teachers and teams will analyze assessment data and determine which students need reteaching of essential standards at Tier 2 or Tier 3 and plan for targeted intervention instruction (intervention block).

Strategy 2

  • Increase effectiveness of workshop model through student access to targeted instruction during independent work/practice.

Strategy 3

  • Increase intervention opportunities within and outside of the school day.

Strategy 4

  • Increase access to hands on, multisensory literacy resources to support phonological awareness, phonics, decoding and writing.

Strategy 5

  • Increase parent knowledge and support in targeted invention skills practice.

 

Math Goal

By June 2022, the (unadjusted) percentage of all students passing the math SOL will increase from 42% to 80%.

Strategy 1

  • Teachers and teams will analyze assessment data and determine which students need reteaching of essential standards at Tier 2 or Tier 3 and plan for targeted intervention instruction (intervention block).

Strategy 5

Access to Rigor Goal

By June 2022, 100% of K-5 classrooms will engage students in instructional experiences using AAP curriculum at least twice per quarter throughout the school year.

Strategy 1

  • Bren Mar Park instructional staff will explore, identify and implement access to rigor resources in whole-group, tier 1 instruction.

Strategy 2

  • Bren Mar Park instructional staff will explore, identify, and implement enrichment and extension opportunities in small group instruction.

 

Wellness Goal

By June 2022, the percentage of teachers identified heightened concerns around students' abilities to control emotions and students' abilities to problem-solve peer conflicts will decrease from 57% to no more than 20% as measured by the Student Wellness Feedback survey completed by teachers.

Strategy 1

  • Increase teacher knowledge of SEL strategies for Tier 1 and 2 implementation.

Strategy 2

  • Implement SEL interventions and supportive materials for Tier 2 and 3 implementation.

Strategy 3

  • Increase staff and student knowledge of problem-solving strategies for peer conflict.

Strategy 4

  • Increase students knowledge on self awareness, self management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision making.
