- [email protected]
- Please email us before 9 a.m.
If you do not submit the absence through ParentVue, phone, or email, the absence will be considered unverified. When reporting a student's absence, please be specific about why your student will not attend school today.
- If reporting an ill student, include symptoms, especially if they have a fever, nausea, vomiting, sore throat, and/or cough. If your student has a diagnosis from a healthcare provider, please include that information.
Types of Absences
Excused Absences
Illness of the student, death in the family, doctor’s or dentist’s appointments, and observance of a religious holiday.
Prearranged Absences
If parents are aware of a future absence, they may contact the school to report the absence and the related date. Extended absences, typically for hardship reasons, must be documented and submitted to the school at least three to five school days in advance for review and action
Unexcused Absences
Family trips, childcare situations, non-school-related activities, or missed school bus.
Any child who is absent from school for 15 consecutive days or more must be withdrawn from our enrollment. Upon the child’s return, the parent must again officially enroll him/her.
Pre-Arranged Absence Process - NEW Policy as of January 2025
Families must complete their portion of the Request for Pre Arranged Absence form. You may bring it directly to Mrs. Williams or turn it in to Ms. Van Pool (administrative assistant), who would bring it to administration for signature.
Please review the form for completion prior to signing:
- Family vacations, family reunions, sports activities, general travel are not approved reasons for a prearranged absence.
- Missed instructional hours must be made up in compliance with VDOE expectation for school attendance.
- For any absence that meets or exceeds 15 school days (regardless of whether or not it is approved or not) students are withdrawn from school.
- For all requests of 3 or more days, approved or not approved, families are required to meet with a member of the administrative team to propose or create a Pre-Arranged Absence Instructional Make Up Plan. The conference includes the family, student and administration. Total hours must include 2 hours x the number of days requested.
Entering the Building
